Latest News from Llysfaen Primary School
On Monday, the Year 6 boys faced an unfortunate loss against Ton Yr Ywen. The score was 6-2, but they were a good side. During the match the players worked hard and managed to score two goals an hit the post numerous times!
Our player of the match was Harry from 6GJ. Harry said “I thought we were not passing and communicating enough but we still managed to score two."
The girls played on the other pitch and managed to come out on top in another tough match. They're on fire at the moment!
Eco committee is a committee where we try to help the planet and try to encourage people not to litter. On top of this we work as a team to try and improve the school's eco footprint through new ideas and schemes.
We have just elected a new Eco Committee!
As part of the new eco committee, I can say it was a challenging process where lots of people put themselves forward. We are now in the process of making the school greener and being the best we can. Mrs Hockin will push us to new heights and I can't wait!
On Tuesday the 6th of February, the whole school took part in Safer Internet Day. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness about the internet and how to use it safely. The day before, the digital leaders planned an assembly all about how to be safe online.
We asked Berry (one of our Year 6 digital Leaders) what Safer Internet Day is and what the purpose of it was. She said “The purpose of Safer Internet Day was to tell people about the dangers and negatives of the internet and how to act safely online. I really enjoyed Safer Internet Day because it gave us time to acknowledge what we're doing and what choices we make.”
A massive thank you to the Digital Leaders and Mr Jones and Mr Tynan for helping setting up the day.
This week on Monday the year 6 boys played a football match against Coed Glas, the results were unexpected as both Lisvane teams won by a lot. The score for team 1 was 19-2 and for team 2 it was 16-2. The boys played very well scoring a cracking total of 35 goals. This match was cancelled 2 times so there was a lot of excitement for this match. We are looking forward to our next match against Coed Glas and hope the school wins again!
On Friday the 26th of January, the children of Llysfaen Primary were lucky enough to have their own break the rules day!
The children were allowed to break a number of rules. These rules included; wearing their own clothes, wearing fake tattoos, wearing makeup, painting nails and having an unhealthy snack or lunch. Even the teachers broke the rules as they allowed the lucky juniors to have 5 minutes extra morning play!
Thank you to the PTFA for organising it!
Year 3 have been studying bird week and have been working very hard learning about the beautiful creatures. They have been doing some fact files about birds, discovering and measuring wingspans and making there very own bird feeder as well as painting birds! WOW, Year 3!
Year 3 have even blown the school's socks off by getting a certificate from the RSPB which stands for 'The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds'.
Here's a bird related joke for you:
