Autumn Term news from 4RA

We've all had a wonderful half term getting to know each other! The class have worked extremely hard during our BFG topic and have really enjoyed developing their mental addition and subtraction strategies. They applied their knowledge and understanding of number bonds brilliantly when designing and making their maths game.

All of year 4 got stuck in during our search for minibeasts and although snails were hard to find within the school grounds, they managed to collect snails from home which enabled us to carry out our science investigation successfully! We will continue to explore woodland life after half term.

We have been developing our writing skills this half term, focussing on imagery and sentence structure. They have wowed us with their super similes and awesome alliteration!

In art year 4 have gone cubism crazy and already produce some fantastic faces in the style of Picasso and look forward to creating our own masterpieces in the run up to Christmas.

After half term, we are looking forward to taking a step back in time to the 15th century to find out what life was like during the Tudor times. We will also be putting our wellies on and applying our geographical skills during our unit on orienteering.

Finally, you will notice that your children have brought their literacy and numeracy targets home to share with you along with some key words. We hope you will be able to support them in achieving these targets.

Looking forward to meeting you all at parents evening.

Don't forget our year 4 assembly on Wednesday 23rd November.
