The Summer Term
This term we are looking back to after World War 2, looking at fun topics such as music and fashion.
Class has been in full swing with groups learning a beetles song to practise and perform. Singing songs such as ‘When I’m 64’, ‘Yesterday’, ‘Help’ and more!!!
There has also been a lot of hard work being put into designing clothes from the 1960’s, exploring many styles of fashion; hippy, mod, rocker etc. This project will put all our skills to the test as we cut, rip and sew clothes to fit our teachers!
As well as this, we have all been working hard preparing for our upcoming exams!
It’s going to be another busy term here in 6RA with lots happening, especially with the fashion show and our battle of the bands!

Spring Term
WWII and the Blitz
This half term we will be going back in time to experience a taste of life during the Blitz!
We are looking forward to discovering the main causes of the start of the War, who was involved and how it ended. We are also going to have our heart strings tugged as we learn about the devastating effects the War had on families and communities.
Linking to our theme we will be looking at using the narrative voice in English and learning how to use 'flashback' in our WWII stories. We will study many different reports, highlighting the experiences of children who were evacuated during the outbreak of the Second World War.
In Maths we will be looking at data and statistics linked to WWII, whilst continuing to improve our maths skills across the curriculum.
We will endeavour to develop our artistic skills by creating our own modern version of famous WWII propaganda posters.
So, it looks like it will be another busy term, especially as we will be holding a special WWII exhibition at the end of the term!

More fun in 6RA
We have had a fantastic few weeks, packed with loads of fun lessons!
Last week we had a super volleyball lesson with Mr Meatyard - he was brilliant.
During our Allotment project, we converted miles to kilometres to see how far our food travels before it reaches our plate. We also looked at the effects on the environment. In Science we participated in an exciting experiment in science looking at air.
During peer time we discussed what a “nightmare school” would look like to us and did a tableau (action shot) to show what we believed it would look like!
We had a sensational treat of cooking with seasonal vegetables to make chutney which both classes enjoyed a lot! We are looking forward to Christmas when our chutney will be ready to eat.
Take a look at our new pics on the gallery to see what we have been up to.

Welcome back to a fun filled year.
We have had a super start to the term and have been so busy we haven't had time to catch our breath!
This 1/2 term we will be exploring where our food comes from and looking at how far it travels before it reaches our plate!
In science we will be testing soils to find out which will be most suitable to grow vegetables and looking more closely at the life cycle of a flowering plant.
Take a look at the gallery to find some of the things we have been up to over the last few weeks!
