Year 3 Roman Legionary Training

Class 3DC and 3LB took part in a Roman training day. Here is a sneak peek into what they got up to!

Natural Disasters - Our Amazing Assembly!

Eisteddfod Alert!

Please find below a copy of the words to this year’s house song ‘Ar Lan y Môr'.  We’ve started learning it this week and you have all done brilliantly, but we’d love you to start working on the words at home as well.

Diolch yn fawr iawn, pawb!

Spring Term

The Spring Term has started and it is wet and cold! Our topic this term is Natural Disasters - quite appropriate with the floods in Wales at the moment. Our main focus in PE is gymnastics.

Glitterbugs! Washing you Hands!

What a fantastic first half term we have had! We started our Junior Journey with ’The Big Dip’ topic and managed to pack in lots of learning whilst settling into the different classroom routine! We’ve had a bustling half term pond dipping, habitat hunting, snail investigating, mini-beast enquiring, creating our own mini books about adaptation, data collecting, litter picking…..the list goes on! WOW! The children’s attitude and enthusiasm towards learning have been amazing.

Not only have we been busy learning throughout our topic, we've improved and developed our athletic skills in running, throwing and jumping and we choreographed a dance to 'Singing in the Rain' by Gene Kelly that included unison, cannon and mirroring. They were fantastic and would make anyone want to dance in the rain!

We’re now looking forward to taking a step back in time with our ‘Creative Celts’ topic. Well done Year 3 – keep up the great work!

Our PE days are Tuesdays and Thursdays - please can PE kits be brought into school on those days. If children forget their kits three times we will phone home. This half term we are focussing on dance and athletics.

Spellings will go home on a Monday and children will be tested on a Friday. High Frequency Word sheets will also be coming home this term. We will also upload the weekly spellings onto the website each week.

Don't forget to follow us on Twitter as there may be an action shot of your child throughout the week! @Spike CF14

Mr Cannon will teach on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Mrs Rowlands will teach on Thursdays and Fridays.

Reading

This term we will be continuing to develop the children's love of books. Where children are on scheme books we will try to find reading materials that they enjoy eg. non-fiction.

Some children will be bringing home books that have CDs to listen to - PLEASE look after them!

Spelling

A list of high frequency words have been sent home to help supplement the weekly spelling lists. Children have highlighted the words they need to practise. We have been delighted with the high scores children have achieved in their spelling tests so far. Keep it up! Dal a ti!

Homework

Homework will be sent home on a Friday and returned on a Tuesday (just in case you have a busy weekend)! Please read our homework policy for further guidance.
