Welcome to Year 1!
The Children have made a fantastic start to their Year 1 journey and we are so proud of the way they have settled into their new classrooms and routines. We have made a wonderful start to our new school year with the launch of our theme 'Super Me, Super You', the children threw themselves into our Superhero day! We are really looking forward to the adventures that we have ahead of us this year!

Reading
Please can your child bring their reading book and reading record into school every day. We will read with your child once a week, this may not be the same day every week. This will be in addition to a weekly Guided Group Reading session. We will change your child's book twice a week as long as it has been signed by an adult at home. Please could you also write in the reading record if you would like to keep the book a little longer. This is absolutely fine! Please can you read to your child as well as listen to your child regularly and ask them to retell the story as well as ask them questions about the book as this is an important part of your child's reading development. Please do not rush through the books, we want the children to have a love and enjoyment of reading. We will also regularly benchmark your child's reading to ensure they are on the correct level.
