BREAK THE RULES DAY!
On Friday, Llysfaen primary has a very fun day planned! It's break the rules day! Break the rules day is a day where you get to break some of the rules in Llysfaen primary!
These are some of the rules you can break!
Thanks to the PTFA for putting on all of these awesome events!
On the 11th of February, all the Curriculum Champions went to Senedd because they got invited by the Royal College of psychiatrists for a meeting. They went on 2 trains to get there, and 2 trains to get back. They got ice cream once they finished the meeting. When they got back to school (15:10) they played football till the end of the day. They spoke to Mark Drakeford and various other ministers, about if kids should be allowed to have smartphones in school, and if they should be allowed Facebook and Tiktok, and other platforms like that. They also talked about the transition from primary to secondary. We also talked about whether we needed phones in school
On Tuesday, 7 children went to a 5-a-side football tournament in Ocean Park Arena. Llysfaen Primary School did really well as they got 3rd and won 3 matches, but sadly lost three as well. Despite our success and setbacks, the players had great fun, though they did say it was intense. Our team consisted of many good players:
A huge well done to the boys for representing our school so well!
Further disruption due to water works in Lisvane and another school closure.
Mrs Jenkins says “it was really disappointing and frustrating but it was for the children's safety.”
Noah said “It was good but bad at the same time, but we enjoyed missing school.”
Last Friday there was a surprise as the school closed at around 11am. There were many mixed opinions about this event, some children were happy, whilst some were quite annoyed as they had some important work to do. Sadly, we couldn’t get hold of Welsh water about this issue.
The teachers were also quite irritated as they had some important work planned out but the work had been delayed and a lot of lessons had been delayed for the next week.
Though, the school was forced to close for the children's safety as if they didn’t, there wouldn’t be water to refill bottles and they wouldn’t be able to flush the toilet.
On Tuesday the 4th of February, the year 4s went to the Matthew, an ancient Tudor ship.
“It was great, I loved learning about the food they ate and school in the Tudor times,” one of the Yr4s stated.
“I loved it, my favourite thing that I learnt was that the Matthew was the most successful ship in the Tudor times.”
“I WANT TO GO AGAIN!”screeched one of the year 4s after their fascinating experience.
After they went on the Matthew, they went to the M shed near the breathtaking ship, which was used by John Cabot. When they were at the M shed, they learnt about fruit and biscuits, salted fish and meat that the Tudors had.
On Tuesday, Some Llysfaen girls went to Ocean Park Arena to play in a football tournament. Six other schools were also in the competition. Unfortunately We placed 2nd after Whitchurch.
